2004-06-08, 9:28 a.m.:  Citibank is really pissing me off right now.  Bosun and I applied for one of their credit cards a while ago so that we could have a joint credit card.  After getting the card, I decided to get another of the same card, but just for myself.

I called to make sure that I could have two accounts of the same card type and was assured that there would be no problems.  I applied online, only to receive a letter a few days later rejecting my application for the following reason:

We can accept only one application for the same solicitation.  Our records show that you have already responded to our offer.

What the fuck does that even mean?  Does it really matter whether I apply online, by mail, or over the phone?  Apparently so.  I called to inquire about the problem, and was eventually told that I had to apply over the phone instead of online.  I did apply over the phone, but ten days later, I received a notice saying the following:

It is our policy to limit the number of credit requests that we process within a 60-day period." Our records show that you applied for credit with us within the past 60 days.

Again, WHAT THE FUCK?!  Why did your idiot customer service reps tell me I could reapply right away when you have a rule saying that I have to wait 60 days?!  The worst part is that every time I reapply, my credit score goes down a little.  I want to call and chew someone out, but I'm not sure how much good that will do.

Another wonderful tidbit:  The same day I got the rejection letter, there was another letter from Citibank telling me I am pre-approved for this exact same credit card.  A pre-approval and a rejection all at once!  Fuck you!

"BERKELEY PROFESSORS DENOUNCE WU-TANG CLAN"

By Steve Weis
Ghetto (Southside) Correspondant

Several Berkeley professors spoke out against members of the Wu-Tang Clan yesterday.  "Wu-tang ain't shit.  Fuck Wu-Tang.  I'm da original Wu," said Math Professor Hung-Hsi Wu.  "Ol' Dirty Bastard probably can't even calculate a Fourier coefficient.  Sheeeit, he's just a bitch."  EECS professors Felix Wu and Joseph Wujek also commented on Wu-Tang.  "Killa EECS is on da swarm!  I'll bust out circuit analysis all over Method Man's punk ass," said Wu, while Wujek added "EECS ain't nuttin ta Fuck wit!"

2003-10-06, 9:44AM:  Yesterday we forgot to buy bread at the supermarket (Bosun likes to make shopping lists and bring them to the market and not look at them), so Bosun baked bread overnight for our lunch sandwiches!

2003-10-05, 10:45AM:  I think I'll start posting here more, so I should make a blog-type interface so I can automatically add entries (I currently edit the HTML directly).  And I should move from Python to PHP, so I can access the database.  Yeah.

Today I melted a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup (a non-miniature one) on the stove before eating it.  It was a little better and a lot messier.

Bosun recently discovered a brand of yogurt called Brown Cow (they sell it at Andronico's).  It's really fucking good.  It's made with whole milk and there's actually a layer of cream at the top because it's so fatty.

2003-04-25, 8:06PM:  Wow.  Texas really is a horrible place.

2003-04-22, 12:05PM:  Top tier!  And by virtue of birthdate, I'm number one in the top tier!

2003-02-07, 12:45PM:  From the March 2003 issue of Playboy:

  • The percentage of Americans who can name a Supreme Court justice:  15.
  • Percentage of Americans who can name a member of Aerosmith:  32.
  • Percentage who can name one U.S. senator:  52.
  • Who can name one Beatle:  95.

I usually think that the U.S. would be a better place if people were more informed about important current events.  More information is always a good thing.  With that in mind, here's a quick lesson on the history of the War on (Some) Drugs

2003-02-02, 10:32AM:  This dude is hilarious.

2003-01-18:  I crossed a street diagonally for the first time today.

2002-11-07, 7:02PM:  Looking for the comic reader I used to have here?  It's here now.

2002-11-05, 10:15AM:  I'm currently working on kenthu.net, which will be my non-personal home page.  Since I want to show it to possible employers, there won't be anything personal on that page.  It'll mostly showcase my technical interests.  Once I finish up there, I'll redo kentia.net.
